Thorough Dental Checkups
Six month dental checkups make it possible for our team to partner with patients in preventing most common oral health concerns and diagnosing and treating others in their earliest stages. Every dental checkup at our office includes the following components:
- Diagnostics – We use high-definition digital x-rays to capture a complete picture of the supportive structures of patients’ smiles. These x-rays are easily transferred and stored, and by comparing x-rays from appointment to appointment, we’re often able to diagnose and treat oral health issues in earlier stages.
- Examinations – The dentist carefully evaluates patients’ smiles searching for signs of common oral health concerns including tooth decay, gum disease, temporomandibular joint (TMJ) dysfunction, bruxism (teeth grinding and clenching), and oral cancer.
- Consultations – Following diagnostics and screenings, our dental team carefully explains oral health concerns, possible treatment options, and partners with patients to develop a personalized treatment to help them reach their oral health goals and keep their smiles whole and healthy for life.
Oral Hygiene Appointments
Another essential part of every checkup is a careful, professional teeth cleaning. Our skilled hygienists systematically remove plaque and tartar from even the hardest to reach parts of patients’ smiles. Patients who suffer from periodontal, gum, disease may need to visit our office more frequently for professional cleanings. Our hygienists can also offer recommendations for improving at-home hygiene, and demonstrate proper at-home care techniques.
Patient Education
We welcome patients of all ages at our practice, and working with young people who are just learning to care for their smiles is one of our favorite things to do. We explain and demonstrating best practices in at-home dental hygiene for kids. Even adults can use a little extra guidance when it comes to keeping their smiles whole and healthy for life. We love getting to see our patients twice a year, but the other 3 days of the year, it’s up to the patients to care for their smiles. That’s why we take time to carefully evaluate patients’ at home hygiene routines. If we find any areas for concern, we guide patients to focus on these areas. Additionally, we may recommend professional hygiene products to further improve at-home care.
